What Is It You Really Want in Life?
When we're young we're encouraged to go after our dreams; to dream big and believe that anything is possible. As we get older, somewhere along the journey we can lose the ability to dream, to believe in a bigger purpose for our lives than working to bring home a paycheck or maintaining a certain status. We may even begin to think it's too late for us. We have a mortgage to pay, kids to raise, work to do, retirement to focus on, elderly parents who rely on us. We can kid ourselves into thinking that wherever we are, it's enough for us. It may not have been what we're really passionate about, but hey, where we ended up isn't too shabby, right? I want to look you in the eyes and speak to your heart. Now you tell me. Is it enough?
What is it you really want in life? What calls to you when you quiet yourself long enough to hear? What bigger purpose are you feeling pulled towards? What's holding you back from realizing your deepest desires? Are you fulfilling your purpose where you are? Life is short – too short to waste waiting for “someday” or “later.” Make today your decision point and pursue what it is you really want.
Recently both my daughters were in a local performance of the musical Cinderella. There is one poignant moment right before Cinderella leaves for the ball where she turns to her fairy godmother and says, "Nothing in my life has prepared me for this." The fairy godmother replies, "And yet everything in your life has brought you to this moment."
Your life has brought you to this very moment. Pay attention to what's showing up and be willing to go with it. It's there for a reason. Listen to what you hear in the quiet moments and respond; even if all you can do is acknowledge the call. Signs will show up to confirm you are on the path meant for you. There is no one like you on the planet. Step forward as a force of positive change. The world needs what you have to offer.
Dare to dream big and pursue what you really want in life. Don't wait another day. You really CAN have the life of your dreams.
To your success,
